The MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) syllabus for 2024, as released by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), includes five main subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning.
Biology Portion
– Topics: Bio-diversity, bio-energetic, biological molecules, cell structure and function, coordination and control, diversity among animals, enzymes, evolution, life processes in animals and plants, prokaryotes, reproduction, support and movement, and genetics/inheritance.
– Weightage: 68 MCQs, accounting for 34% of the total exam.

Chemistry Portion
– Topics: Fundamental concepts of chemistry, atomic structure, gases, liquids, solids, chemical equilibrium, reaction kinetics, thermochemistry, electrochemistry, chemical bonding, s and p block elements, transition elements, organic chemistry, hydrocarbons, alkyl halides, alcohols, phenols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and macromolecules.
– Weightage: 54 MCQs, representing 27% of the exam
Physics Portion
– Topics: Force and motion, work and energy, rotational and circular motion, waves, thermodynamics, electrostatics, current electricity, electromagnetism, electromagnetic induction, electronics, dawn of modern physics, atomic spectra, and nuclear physics.
– Weightage: 54 MCQs, making up 27% of the exam
English Portion
– Topics: Key vocabulary (synonyms and antonyms), tenses and sentence structure, use of punctuations, subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and comprehension.
– Weightage: 18 MCQs, which is 9% of the exam
Logical Reasoning Portion
– Topics: Critical thinking, letter and symbol series, logical deduction, logical problems, course of action, and cause and effect.
– Weightage: 6 MCQs, equating to 3% of the exam
MDCAT Entry Test
The MDCAT 2024 exam will consist of 200 MCQs to be completed in 3.5 hours. There will be no negative marking. The minimum passing marks for admission to medical colleges are 55%, and for dental colleges, it is 50%
